Jay Schwartz has lived and worked on both sides of the country
... and with both sides of his brain. The Jersey native graduated
from Boston University in 1989 with a degree in Marketing. After
a year as a management trainee on the main floor of Macy's Herald
Square, he headed to LA to pursue his dream of becoming a songwriter.
By day, Jay employed his business skills helping to manage the careers
of legendary folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary and the studio of Robbie
Buchanan, where he worked with artists including Bonnie Raitt, Bon
Jovi, Clint Black, and coordinated productions for Walt Disney Studios
among others. When he wasn't working, he was playing and writing
music in the LA scene.
In 1995, Jay formed the band "Five Easy Pieces" with
his writing partner Mark Dauer. One independant record and one year
later, the band signed a recording contract with MCA/Universal Records.
The eponymous album was released in 1998 and the songs were seen
and heard by millions of people in movies such as "American
Pie" and television programs including "Melrose Place."
The record got rave reviews, however it was overshadowed by the
Universal/Polygram merger and the band's second record was not released.
Jay's responsibilites went beyond producing and presenting high
quality product. His proficiency in creating and managing calendars,
schedules, projects and budgets, juxtaposed with his comfort performing
for large audiences in the United States and Europe are beneficial
to him in his endeavors today.
He returned to New York where he does graphic design, digital
media design and desktop publishing within the JPMorganChase Investment
Bank. Jay knows the applications he supports inside and out. These
include the Microsoft Office programs, as well as graphics packages
from Adobe, Macromedia and Corel. Working closely with bankers and
various marketing groups, Jay is a professional with a unique ability
to create and integrate creative, artistic and management perspectives
to solve problems, foster innovation, and maintain and expand customer
base.
Jay's left and right brain are in full sync. He has combined his
lyrical sensibilities and keen eye for interactive technology, detail
and design with management perspectives he has cultivated over the
last fifteen years...Always looking for a way to connect with his
audience, and help them to think in ways they haven't thought before.
